Resin

Resin ribbons deliver the highest durability of any thermal transfer ribbon type. Where wax and wax-resin ribbons are designed for paper-based labels in relatively controlled environments, resin ribbons are engineered for synthetic label stocks in demanding conditions — chemical exposure, outdoor UV, high heat, repeated abrasion, and washdown environments where print on any other ribbon type would degrade or disappear entirely. The resin formulation bonds to synthetic facestocks including polyester, polypropylene, and nylon at a molecular level rather than simply adhering to the surface. The result is print that resists acetone, alcohol, oils, acids, and other solvents, survives temperature extremes well beyond the range of paper labels, and holds up to physical abrasion that would scuff wax or wax-resin print beyond readability. For outdoor asset tags, chemical drum labels, laboratory specimens, automotive and electrical component marking, and similar applications, resin is the appropriate choice. Because resin ribbons require synthetic facestocks to achieve their full durability benefit, selecting the right label and ribbon combination is important.
